It better be worth it…

to die by the hands of Elkton. Kerri and I went on a photo adventure a few days ago, sneaking around a few houses that stand out on the back roads of Elkton.

Of course, when we got home, we were covered in ticks. Lymes Disease is not my idea of a good time.

At least the Polaroids came out decent.

They’re nice. But not sure I’m willing to become diseased. I’ll be steering clear from that area for a while!

An old face on Instant Photographs

Today is a good day for blogging (outside of the fact that my new external hard drive has been locked before I even got the chance to use it)!!

For once, I’ve got my own work to showcase!

At the start of the day, things weren’t looking so great. I brought my Polaroid 340 Land Camera in to work and plugged in my brand new battery hoping that it would solve the darkness problems.

One shot later and we were at a minor success. There was an image, but it was quite dark:

Not Perfect (but at least there's an image)

With the negative sheet, Amanda tried to make a Polaroid transfer (it didn’t work, but the idea’s got promise). I think I’m going to utilize an old sketchbook to try my own hand at transfers.

What else could be wrong with my camera? Nothing! In fact, during my lunch, I decided to go on an adventure to the nearby Ramsey Farm, where Kerri and I first started experimenting with Diana and Holga.

Three instant images later, I was happy to find that the battery was indeed doing its job.

I’m really liking the colors – although, they’re a bit different from what I saw on the website.

Now, I’ll definitely be taking advantage of all the film I got for my birthday.

2 packs of Silk Film (one of which I’m using now) (it’s also SOLD OUT!!)

1 pack of Sepia

1 pack of Chocolate

1 pack of Blue

Thoughts after my first successes:

All the fun (and cost) of film, without the wait!

Plus extra ways to experiment.

Totally worth it.

Mission Impossible (Film!!!)

I happened to stumble into the old Family Thrift store in the heart of Stanton and on what do my eyes gaze upon, but a glorious old Polaroid camera.

A 340 Land Camera to be specific.

Now, I haven’t tried it out, but it is pretty glorious.

Hopefully, in the next few weeks I’ll be getting some film to try it out.

Photo on 2010-04-05 at 23.39The film is pretty tough to find – especially at a decent price. But I did find a website – Impossible Film – which produces and sells Polaroid film out of an old Polaroid film factory.

And suddenly there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!

Film Fail…

Upon hearing that Happy Harry’s was having a $.09 print sale, I decided to experiment with Diana’s new 35mm back and some consumer-grade Kodak film.

After 3.5 rolls (one had been previously exposed, aha), I learned my lesson with all the grainy prints I received. The price for professional-grade is definitely worth it.
